FAQ's
Have questions? That's normal! Let us help you.
Do I have to attend all the events?
Nope! Come when you can. Most members cannot attend every weekend, especially in the summer. But we hope you can make it because the more, the merrier.
Do I have to run with other people?
No way! Only if you want to. Sometimes running or walking with aid station support and other members you can see on the course is helpful.
Can I walk?
Yes! You can run, run/walk or walk. Check the details before each event for the course time to know how long the aid stations are available. Details are on the EVENTS Page.
Are there pace groups?
There are no official pace groups, but we will hook you up with members that run or walk near your goal pace so you can start together. Just let us know! At the beginning of each season, we will also form "loose" groups so you can find your peeps. If in doubt, ask for help from Coach Amy or a volunteer - typically the one that is passing out maps.
Where are the events?
The locations vary. Go to EVENTS for details.
How far do you go?
The distances vary. Go to EVENTS for details.
Is the course marked?
Nope. You can download the map for each course to your phone or training device. Go to EVENTS for maps. Printed maps are also available at the start of each run. We recommend you familiarize yourself with the map before attending a group event. Watch this VIDEO to learn how to load the course map to your Garmin device.
What do you provide at an aid station?
Each aid station has hand sanitizer, two 5-gallon jugs: one with an electrolyte drink (which does contain sugar) and one with water, and a tub with some essentials like tissues, tampons, and vaseline, bandaids, individually wrapped candies, paper towels. Some stations in the summer months will have ice. We provide aid stations approximately every 2 miles as the course allows.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, we love and welcome dogs, as long as they are people and dog friendly. Please use a leash.
Is there a coach or run leader on Saturdays?
There is no dedicated leader for our ongoing Saturday meet-ups. Volunteers will be available at the start to pass out maps, review the course, provide tips, make announcements and answer questions. Runners are responsible for their safety. Saturday group meet-ups do not include coaching.
This is my first time at a run group, and it's a little frightening.
Sometimes new members feel intimidated about joining a new group. Please don't be afraid! We all at RRKC have had that first group experience and understand how that feels. For every loud and gregarious member in our bunch, there is a quiet and reserved one, but all are friendly and compassionate, and we want you to feel welcome.
