Base Building - Winter Mileage Goals for Your Spring Race


Get out of your cave this winter!

Base building, increasing your overall mileage and the distance of your long runs, is crucial to your spring running goals. The Personal Best Spring Training Session starts January 21st and is great motivation to leave your warm bed when you know there will be others waiting to brave the snow and ice with you. A marked course (changes every weekend), a map, a certified running coach and aid stations will help you too!

Ideally you should be running within 5-10% of the following distances for long runs and total weekly mileage by the start of the training program. Mileage is based on programs for the recreational to intermediate runner. Advanced runners should be running higher mileage.
